Help create a fun, safe, and positive camp experience for kids ages 6–12. As a Lead Counselor, you’ll be a role model, keep groups organized, and support staff so each day runs smoothly—especially during long, active summer days.
What you’ll do
Lead and supervise a group of campers and support other counselors
Help plan and run daily activities, games, and camp programs
Communicate with parents as needed and handle camper issues respectfully
Keep campers safe, engaged, and included (including reasonable accommodations when possible)
Help keep equipment and spaces clean, safe, and ready to use
Follow YMCA guidelines and required safety/licensing rules
Support camp events, community activities, and occasional fundraising efforts
Staff Engagement & Development
Assist in supervision of program participants in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and QRIS Standards. Monitor and communicate with Camp Directors on all staff-related EEC, QRIS, and South Shore YMCA requirements.
