Our Company is currently looking for a Research Scientist.  This is a newly created position located in Camarillo, California.

Job Description:

This position requires at least 10 years of relevant industry experience with focus on mammalian cell culture development and optimization for recombinant protein production, as well as related analytical methods.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversees all lab activities related to development of robust process for manufacturing of human therapeutic proteins

  • Designs experiments, optimizes media and tests conditions in shake flasks, spinner tubes, scale down bioreactor systems (Ambr) and 2L bench top reactors (Applicon).

  • Experience with fed-batch and perfusion bioreactor processes is required.

  • Retains an up to date knowledge of analytical techniques and relevant scientific literature.

  • Responsible for accurate laboratory data entry, maintenance of necessary documentation and day to day operations. 

  • Keeps Team Leader & Project Manager informed on a regular basis on project status and any circumstances which may alter project scope or established timelines.

  • Leads small team of Scientists and/or Research Associates.

  • Supports identification and optimization of alternative laboratory methods and/or equipment to improve work efficiency and throughput.

  • Acts as a mentor to junior level Scientists and/or Research Associates.

  • Actively contributes to idea disclosure.

 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • PhD or MS in Cell Biology or other relevant area

  • 10 years of industry experience with emphasis on cell culture and development of manufacturing processes required.

  • Experience performing a variety of assays including ELISA, IEF gels, PAGE gels and Western blots preferred.

  • In depth knowledge of new technologies related to protein expression.

  • Experience in cell culture process development and Design of Experiment (DOE) a plus, media optimization working experience preferred.
