Position Summary:
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking a skilled Multi-Modality Technologist (MRI/CT) to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital. The hospital is located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus.
SSVM is a new and innovative veterinary teaching hospital for small animals, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including a 3T MRI and 128-slice CT in our Imaging Suite. The teaching hospital is designed to accommodate multiple specialty departments, including anesthesia, cardiology, clinical pathology, dentistry and oral surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency/critical care, exotics, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, primary care, and surgery.
Schedule:
- Shifts are primarily days (M-F) with flexibility that may include weekends
- Holiday availability may be necessary.
- Future on-call availability may be necessary.
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and run MRI and CT scans for patients per clinician orders to obtain diagnostic images on small animal (canine/feline/exotic) patients
- Sets image parameters and patient positioning
- Maintains a thorough understanding of veterinary medical terminology related to imaging procedures and patient care.
- Works independently/under the guidance of the veterinarian to modify scan techniques for optimal image quality
- Maintains a clean & safe MRI and CT environment by restricting personnel access and disinfecting between studies
- Operates and maintains MRI and CT equipment, troubleshooting any issues that may arise during scanning.
- Performs routine MRI and CT quality assurance and reports any concerns in a timely manner
- Takes an active role during the patient scanning process
- Ensures medical records, including transferring of images, are accurate and timely
- Remains current in MRI and CT trends through CE attendance and certification
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Radiology Information System (RIS) for patient examination ordering, client charges, reporting, scheduling and patient flow through the Diagnostic Service.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for storage of all Diagnostic Imaging Studies.
- Assist with fluoroscopic imaging as needed.
- Enforce and demonstrate radiation safety protocols and proper shielding with lead attire and monitoring with film badges.

Salary Information:
- Probationary Rate: $36.05/hour
- Job Rate: $37.25/hour
- Max Rate: $38.46/hour
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years working as an MRI technician.
- Certification in MRI by the ARRT
- Understanding of medical records pertinent to patient care and image requests
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, adaptable environment
- Maintain a positive outlook and ability to work well with a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of basic veterinary knowledge.
- Experience working in veterinary medicine.
- Experience working in an academic environment.
- Experience running advanced imaging diagnostics on animal patients.
- Comfortable teaching and training colleagues and/or students
