The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for undertaking specific commercial activities under the supervision of the Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor to ensure margins are maintained and risks are managed.


 


Be responsible for management of commercial activities on site:



  • Ensure the timely submission of EWNs, CEs and other notifications under the Contract

  • Maintain registers for contractual notifications

  • Prepare quotations for CE’s once agreed in principle

  • Supports the planners with preparing contractual programmes

  • Support Applications for Payment

  • Support the drafting and negotiation of subcontracts

  • Contract administration of subcontractors and suppliers

  • Supports Bilfinger’s financial timetable and internal and client reporting requirements

  • Supporting CVRs and other project reporting requirements

  • Optimises profitability – evidenced by improvements in margins of projects against budget

  • Minimise company’s liabilities by providing support and advice to site team in respect of contractual obligations, notices and remedies

  • Supports valuation, application and invoicing process and the review and certification processes of subcontractor accounts


 


Experience


Essential



  • Previous experience in post-grad QS role


Desirable



  • NEC3/NEC4 experience

  • Working for a main contractor or subcontractor

  • Experience of industrial services/engineering sector

  • Knowledge of best practice

  • Evidence of risk and change management


Qualifications


Essential



  • Minimum HNC/Degree or equivalent in quantity surveying or similar

  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other Microsoft suites


Desirable:



  • Membership of appropriate professional body such as RICS


Mandatory to operate on site: 



  • CCNSG or CSCS MAPS or Operatives
