    MTSS/SEL Coordinator 

    Position Purpose
    Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by providing interventions to reinforce classroom curriculum; document student progress/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.  The MTSS/SEL Coordinator will serve as the MTSS Coordinator and SEL Coach for one assigned school. 

    School Work Year 
    The work year for the MTSS/SEL Coordinator is a full-time position (180 days) covered under the IVCEA collective bargaining agreement.
     

    Essential Functions

    The essential functions of this position focus on coordinating the schools Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) program addressing both academic and behavioral needs of all students as well as serving as the Social-Emotional Coach for the teachers of the school.This position will serve as the coordinator for the Tier 1,2, 3 programs in all areas of student support.

    Assessment

    • Coordinate all building scheduled screening assessments
    • Collaborate with building administrators to determine the best assessment schedules for teachers and students
    • Administer individual screening assessments of students if needed
    • Coordinate the progress monitoring for all students in the MTSS program
    • Collect and analyze data from universal screenings and progress monitoring
    • Report data to administration and grade level teams

    Grade Level Meetings and Plan Development

    • Schedule and facilitate grade level meetings to determine student placement in MTSS tiers based on both academic and behavioral concerns
    • Attend student focused or problem solving meetings
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create an intervention plan based on targeted area of need
    • Create master MTSS schedule to ensure all students are supported in the school
    • Serve as the school's SEL Coach and coordinate and oversee the implementation of all SEL programs

    Interventions

    • Be familiar with all interventions available
    • Coordinate all aspects of providing interventions to students
    • Assist in researching and selecting new interventions for district purchase as needed
    • Train MTSS paraprofessionals on the interventions
    • Schedule and assign MTSS paraprofessionals to work with individuals and groups
    • Provide supervision, support, and guidance to the MTSS paraprofessionals
    • Provide Tier III Interventions to students as schedule permits

    Communication

    • Ensure all parent communication is completed and documented
    • Update classroom teachers on student progress, interventions, etc.
    • Communicate frequently with building administrator about MTSS program, student needs, and teacher concerns

    Documentation

    • Maintain all electronic documentation for students receiving MTSS services (shared drive)
    • Maintain inventory of interventions and materials

    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student needs.
    • Knowledge of K-8 curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
