Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of LOA Salaried - Coordinator for TRIO McNair. The Interim Coordinator for Nevada State University’s Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program (TRIO McNair) will report to the Associate Director. In conjunction with the Associate Director, the coordinator will actively support the implementation of programs and events that enrich student engagement. TRIO McNair scholars will have the opportunity to benefit from supportive services that enhance their academic and social experiences. Student services include but are not limited to summer research internships, opportunities to engage in undergraduate research, targeted seminars designed to prepare them for doctoral study, graduate school tours, and graduate admission assistance.
The incumbent will have the most significant contact with program participants. They will be responsible for providing individual services (e.g., conducting comprehensive needs assessments, assisting students in developing an individualized plan, advising, and monitoring their growth) and assisting with the facilitation of group services (e.g., seminars, workshops, graduate school visits, undergraduate research, and conference attendance). The coordinator will be required to provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, work in a team environment with frequent interruptions, and maintain the confidentiality of program participants.

Core Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment of program participants, including marketing, information sessions, application submission process, application review, and notification of students selected as TRIO McNair participants, as well as collaboration with institutional partners to advance grant goals and objectives
- Coordinate with the staff of the NSC Undergraduate Research and Creative Works conference to ensure TRIO McNair student participation
- Assist the Associate Director in planning professional development seminars and summer research internships
- Meet regularly with students to advise and provide academic counseling to participants, track academic performance, and participation in activities, and maintain advising notes
- Design and implement workshops and individual counseling in areas such as GRE preparation, financial aid, and fellowship applications, internships, research, and graduate school exploration
- Advise and support participants through all graduate school selection and application stages
- Assist students with applying to professional conferences, including NSC’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Works Conference
- Assist students in maintaining updated profiles via Career Services and Advancement tracking platforms (Handshake; Blackbaud)
- Chaperone participants on program-related travel (graduate visits, field trips, conferences)
- Coordinate completion of internship, research, and graduate school applications
- Update program database and assist with completion of reports as needed
- Maintains relationships and networks with Nevada State faculty and staff, and professionals in the community
- Attends events, forums, research fairs, and other events that relate to the goals and objectives of the program
- Establishes and maintains relationships with graduate school personnel and alum
- Tracks students after graduation to include the educational/career progress and complete required evaluation reports
- Prepare reports for the Associate and Executive Director
- Design and maintain a social media presence for the program
- Serves on committees as assigned or supported by Associate Director
- Other relevant project activities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with academic support programs or similar programs for disadvantaged and at-risk college students.
- Familiarity in leveraging a variety of technology platforms to maximize efficiency.
- Strong written communication and public speaking/presentation skills.
- Organized with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of academic and social needs of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented college students.
- Ability to maintain strong working relationships with students, alums, employees, institutional leaders, and community members.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential matters with discretion.
- Passion for educational success and an understanding of the graduate school admissions process.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced work environment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education or social sciences.
- Experience working in a federal TRIO program.
- Success in overcoming similar barriers to those confronting TRIO McNair participants.

40 hours per week.
Monthly Salary:
$4,523.75 per month
