Job Summary: As a licensed healthcare professional within the Residential Programs, the Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring that medical services are delivered promptly, monitoring medical documentation, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The role requires adaptability to meet the diverse health needs of individual residents. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support residents in achieving optimal health and access to high-quality medical care. 

  • Develop and maintain an infection control program to ensure a safe environment. 

  • Create and update individualized health plans with clear objectives and strategies. 

  • Serve as the medical representative in Individual Plan (IP) processes and interdisciplinary teams. 

  • Assess resident health needs and coordinate necessary health services and specialty consultations. 

  • Communicate with guardians, families, and stakeholders regarding medical concerns. 

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and oversee the implementation of treatment plans. 

  • Provide in-service training to staff on medication administration, first aid, seizure management, illness detection, and basic healthcare skills. 

  • Supervise residential staff to ensure healthcare meets regulatory and agency standards. 

  • Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and adherence to DDS and agency policies. 

  • Work independently while consulting Program Manager or Director on complex issues. 

  • Participate in committees such as Protection & Advocacy, Infectious Disease Control, and Admissions. 

  • Oversee medication certification for unlicensed personnel and maintain related documentation. 

  • Conduct regular reviews of medication administration and incident reports. 

  • Provide guidance and on-call support to staff for health-related issues. 

  • Attend DDS Nursing Network meetings to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
