Intern – Treasurer

$20/hour

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Update and maintain ARIA debt and collections records
    to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain
    and organize records in accordance with retention policies and documentation
    standards.
  • Research
    and verify parking tickets and payment status within the system.
  • Verify legal violations
    and outstanding debts within the Treasurer’s system.
  • Process and receipt payments
    received electronically, by mail, and in person at the service window.
  • Shadow Treasurer’s Office staff to
    learn daily operations and assist in developing and creating standard
    operating procedures.


Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in
coursework in business, accounting, finance, public administration, or a
related field. They will demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy
when working with financial data, along with basic computer skills and the
ability to quickly learn new systems. The candidate will possess effective
communication skills, both in person and over the phone, and will be able to
handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality.
Additionally, they will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn about
municipal finance and operations. They should be comfortable working with
numbers, maintaining financial records, and interacting with the public in a
professional manner, while also demonstrating the ability to follow established
procedures and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.

 

To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
