HaLev Early Childhood at the J, located at the Sabes Center in St. Paul, is hiring a full-time Early Childhood Teacher's Aide. Teacher's Aides are warm, gentle, flexible, and patient, and have experience working with children. They have the opportunity to support children to develop independence, build strength through uninhibited play, and develop a healthy sense of self and safety in a strong community of loving caregivers. Our center serves children from the age of 6 weeks to 5-years-old and our team provides quality care and education for the children we serve. - Provide high-quality care to our children and families in a manner which reflects the mission and values of the JCC
- Challenge each child to reach their potential, and guide their activities academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually
- Meet the daily needs of the children through caregiving activities such as diapering/toileting, meals, and napping
- Assist in the room maintenance to keep the classroom and center a safe, clean, and loving environment
- Rotate classroom materials regularly based on the observed interests of the children, HaLev monthly Jewish theme, and developmental stage
- Works with teachers and assistant teachers in the classroom to form a positive, supportive environment
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Have an understanding of The Creative Curriculum and knowledge of how to implement this curriculum into the classroom
- Must be 16 years old in accordance with MN Department of Human Services
- Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions, or willingness to learn
- Commitment to equity, diversity, environmental stewardship, and social justice
- Willingness to learn more about child development

- Commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards
- Follow and meet MN Rule 3 requirements
Abuse Risk Management
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with participants
- Attend required abuse risk management training
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high risk activities and supervising participants
- Report inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Teacher's aides are regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, sit on the floor with children
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
- Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions
