About the role:
The Director of Dental Clinical Services is the clinical leader of the Dental Department and serves as one
half of the Dental Dyad Leadership Team, partnering closely with the Director of Dental Operations. This
role owns clinical quality, standards of care, provider performance, and professional practice while coowning departmental culture, patient experience, staff engagement, and strategic direction. Through
collaboration with operational leadership, this position ensures high-quality, evidence-based, patientcentered dental care across all sites
Job Requirements
The Minimum Qualifications
- DDS or DMD from an ADA-accredited program
- Current unrestricted Idaho dental license
- DEA registration and Idaho Controlled Substance license
- BLS certification
- Eligible for credentialing
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience and 3 years of leadership experience
- FQHC or community health experience strongly preferred
Dyad Leadership Model
The Dental Department operates under a Dyad Leadership Model consisting of:
- Director of Dental Clinical Services (Dentist) – Clinical quality, provider leadership, standards of care
- Director of Dental Operations – Access, flow, staffing systems, finances, and daily operations
Both leaders are jointly accountable for:
- Department culture
- Patient experience
- Staff engagement and retention
- Strategic priorities
- Performance outcomes
Your Essential Duties
Clinical Excellence
- Owns clinical quality and standards of care across all dental sites
- Establishes and maintains evidence-based clinical protocols
- Leads clinical QA/QI, peer review, and professional practice improvement
- Ensures compliance with HRSA, regulatory, and professional standards
- Serves as clinical authority for infection control, treatment standards, and clinical risk management
Provider Leadership & Development
- Recruits, supervises, evaluates, and mentors dental providers (dentists and hygienists)
- Leads provider onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing professional development
- Facilitates regular provider meetings focused on quality, learning, and patient outcomes
- Provides direct coaching and feedback to support high performance and engagement
Dyad Partnership
- Partners with the Director of Dental Operations to translate clinical priorities into operational workflows
- Participates in strategic planning while maintaining clear clinical ownership boundaries
- Co-leads departmental culture initiatives and team engagement
- Serves as clinical liaison between providers and organizational leadership
Direct Patient Care
- Maintains clinical sessions to remain connected to practice realities and model standards of care
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
