Job Summary
The Hospice Aide (CNA) provides hands-on personal care to patients in accordance with the care plan developed and supervised by the RN.
This role is essential to ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and consistency of care in both home and facility settings.
What You’ll Do
- Provide personal care and hygiene support:
- Bathing, grooming, oral care, and toileting
- Assisting with showers, bed baths, and personal hygiene needs
- Assist with mobility:
- Turning, positioning, and ambulation
- Support daily living activities:
- Meal assistance and basic nutrition support
- Provide light housekeeping in the patient’s immediate area
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN clearly and promptly
- Build trust with patients and families through respectful, compassionate care
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and approach to care
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
- Assist with orientation of new staff when appropriate
- Perform additional tasks within CNA scope as trained and approved

Non-Negotiables
- You are punctual and maintain consistent attendance
- You communicate changes in patient condition promptly

Required Credentials
- Current Texas CNA certification
- Current CPR certification (Healthcare Provider)
- Current TB test (or willingness to obtain; may be provided)
- Valid (non-expired) Texas driver’s license
- Proof of auto insurance
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved nursing assistant program
- Previous experience in hospice, home health, or hospital setting preferred
- Acceptable professional references
- Ability to pass pre-employment CNA competency evaluation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
Compensation
Full-Time:
- $16 – $22/hour (based on experience)
- Mileage reimbursement
- Consistent scheduling and patient assignments
PRN:
- $22 – $25/hour equivalent / per visit
- Flexible scheduling based on availability and geography
