The Senior Budget Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation, modification, and dissemination of the budgets to the sites, as well as to governmental funding agencies. The Senior Budget Analyst will translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders. The Senior Budget Analyst will input all budget information into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Director of Budgets, align funder budgets with internal budget templates to ensure understandability, effectiveness, and efficiencies.
- Build detailed line-item budgets annually for the assigned portfolio of sites in conjunction with the Senior-level Program team.
- Provide thoughtful analysis to the Program team during budget creation.
- Modify budgets throughout the year in response to changes in spending and/or funding in conjunction with the Revenue team.
- Participate in monthly and/or quarterly budget reviews to promote fiscal and operational efficiency, presenting findings and making recommendations to relevant staff.
- Submit timely close-out budgets to ensure maximization of funder budget.
- Update the accounting system to reflect the last approved budget while maintaining a complete record of all versions of the budget.
- Maintain complete budget files with source correspondence.
- In conjunction with the Director of Budgets, ensure employee allocations are accurate within the HRIS system.
- Serves as a senior budget liaison between the funding agencies, Program, and Revenue teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in budget preparation and analysis.
- Knowledge in fiscal management for government contracts; Federal, State, and City agencies, including but not limited to NYC DHS, NYC DOHMH, NYC HRA, NYC HPD, NYC OTDA, NYS OCFS, NYS OMH, US HUD, and US VA.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in all Microsoft applications required.
Compensation
Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
