Job Description

Verisk is looking for a Country Controller who will be responsible to maintaining our Polish statutory accounts and related in-country compliance obligations, working with our Statutory Reporting Team and Accounting Teams. We are looking for someone with great technical accounting skills and as well as highly developed soft skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own the local general ledger and trial balance, ensuring completeness and accuracy of country‑level books
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of US GAAP to Polish GAAP books and maintain documentation of all statutory adjustments
  • Prepare and/or review local statutory financial statements in accordance with Polish GAAP and statutory requirements
  • Act as primary point of contact for external statutory auditors, coordinating audits and resolving findings
  • Accountable for statutory, regulatory, and compliance reporting to local and central government authorities, the National Bank of Poland, and other relevant institutions
  • Manage responses to regulatory inquiries, tax inspections, and statutory filings with local authorities
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local accounting law, Group accounting policies, and internal control frameworks through ongoing review of regulatory changes
  • Partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal, and HR on matters impacting statutory reporting, provisions, intercompany settlement, and capital structure
  • Drive process standardization and efficiency improvements in statutory and close activities in conjunction with the Accounting and Statutory Reporting Teams
  • Ensure high‑quality documentation of accounting processes, policies, and judgments for audit and governance purpose
  • Provide support to accounting team
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required – including statutory reporting and audit responsibilities in a multinational organization
  • Strong working knowledge of Polish GAAP, with experience bridging to US GAAP
  • Experience managing external audits and regulatory compliance 
  • Proven expertise in understanding evolving accounting issues and making recommendations to address identified issues
  • Large ERP experience (with Oracle Fusion a plus)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively both with local teams and with US/UK
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources, and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills are required

 

Skills/Education:

 

  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Polish required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

 

We offer hybrid work model with 2 days per week in our Krakow office.
