Job Description

 


Primary Purpose:


Assist plumbers with repairs and all work orders assigned to the plumbing department. Maintain a clean and safe environment.


 


 


Qualification Guidelines:


 


Education/Certifications:


High School Diploma or GED


Valid Texas driver's license


 


Experience:


Prior experience as apprentice helper is desirable


 


Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


Ability to use hand and power tools


Ability to follow written and verbal instructions


Physically fit with good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination and sense of balance


Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds


Good human relations skills and ability to work with others


Learn/progress toward journeyman classification


Learn/progress skills necessary to use mini jetter, camera locator and electrical auger


 


Supervisory Responsibilities:


None


 


 


Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:


Tools/Equipment Used: Hand and powertools, sewerrooter, torch, ladder and lighttruck or van.


Posture/Motion/Lifting: Continuouswalking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and heavy lifting. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside


Environment: Exposure to extreme temperatures, frequent district-wide travel, work indoors and outdoorsto conduct on-site inspection ofall facilities and construction projects; work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffolding


Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times


 


Facility Construction, Maintenance & Repair


1. Assist plumbers in completing work orders.


2. Maintain a clean and safe work area.


3. Organize materials as instructed.


4. Abide by all safety rules.


 


Safety


5. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.


6. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.


7. Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.


8. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.


9. You will be required to be on a security and on call rotation.


10. Perform other duties as assigned
