    ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS TEACHER/COACH (GRADES 6-12)

    Location: Billings Multilingual Academy AND Various
    Reports to: Building Principal
    Calendar: Full-time Teaching position; 7.5 hours/day; Monday-Friday; Middle School and High School
    Salary: BEA Salary Schedule

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Working with students and teachers in a hybrid-inclusionary model.

    • Schedule day includes teaching ESL on-site at neighborhood middle and/or high schools to students with WIDA scores below 4.0
    • Schedule day provides time for ELL Coach duties supporting ELL students and their regular education teachers 
    • Schedule day includes travel time to and from the BMA (Lincoln Center) and the neighborhood schools as assigned

       

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned):

    1. Teaching: Plan, teach, and assess for student learning in ESL courses.
    2. Registration: Refer to the registration specialist and support student registration if needed.
    3. Placement: Ensure proper student placement by identifying, screening, and testing potential students.
    4. New arrivals (Entering English language development): Provide support and English learning program development for new arrivals and their teachers.
    5. Training: Provide training for all teachers, and specific training for teachers of EL students and school/district support staff.
    6. Annual WIDA ACCESS testing: Oversee and administer annual English Language Proficiency testing (WIDA ACCESS for ELs).
    7. Program Compliance: Implement the school district Title 3: LIEP (Language Instruction Educational Program) and students' individualized English Learner (EL) Plan.
    8. Parents: Support parents and liaison with the school and community resources.
    9. Paras: Supervise paraprofessionals that serve EL students.
    10. Other duties as assigned.
    • Attend training on district initiatives and grants
    • Network with other ELL professionals

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Requires a current Montana Educator License with a preferred endorsement in either English (5-12), Reading (K-12), or English as a Second Language (K-12).

    ESL Endorsement/Training/Experience preferred (candidates with certification in progress may be accepted) or willingness to pursue.
