Position Summary
Hailiang Copper Texas is seeking a Spanish–Mandarin Interpreter to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking employees and Mandarin-speaking management and technical staff. This role plays a vital part in supporting daily operations, safety compliance, and workforce integration across a diverse employee population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time interpretation between Spanish and Mandarin for:
- Production instructions and troubleshooting
- Technical discussions with Chinese expatriate staff
- Safety meetings and compliance training
- HR-related communications (onboarding, coaching, employee relations)
- Translate written materials such as:
- Work instructions and SOPs
- Safety policies and signage
- Employee communications
- Support cross-cultural communication and understanding between workforce groups
- Assist with onboarding and training of Spanish-speaking employees
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Provide interpretation support during audits, inspections, or leadership visits
Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish and Mandarin (spoken and written); English proficiency strongly preferred
- Prior interpretation experience required; manufacturing or technical environment strongly preferred
- Ability to understand and convey technical and operational terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across cultures
- High level of discretion and professionalism
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Working Conditions
- On-site role in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Regular interaction with production teams and leadership
- May involve extended periods on the production floor
