    Language Arts Interventionist (Grades 6-8) - Starting August 2026

    Position Purpose

    The Language Arts Interventionist provides targeted, small-group reading and writing instruction to students in grades 6-8 who are performing below grade level. The interventionist collaborates with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to design and deliver evidence-based interventions aimed at closing learning gaps and supporting academic success in language arts. 


    Essential Functions

    • Provide small-group, pull-out or push-in reading and writing instruction aligned with core curriculum and individual student needs.
    • Assess students' reading & writing understanding using screening and diagnostic tools to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement targeted intervention plans using research-based instructional strategies and materials.
    • Monitor and document student progress regularly; adjust interventions based on student performance and data.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and other specialists to support differentiated reading & writing instruction.
    • Participate in data team and student support meetings to discuss student progress and plan interventions.
    • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies to support reading & writing learning at home.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interventions, assessments, and progress monitoring data.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development in reading & writing instruction, intervention strategies, and data analysis.

    Additional Duties
    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Equipment
    Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Work Schedule
    Standard teacher work schedule. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
    Work in standard office and school building environments.

    Qualifications Profile
    Certification/License:

    • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
    • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

    Education

    • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
    • Masters Degree preferred.

    Experience

    • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
    • Training in intervention programs
    • Experience with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring tools
