Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities  

•    Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies and regulations. 
•    Ensure that manufacturing activities (design, processes, process change, etc.) incorporate the safety aspect. 
•    Manage future product line strategy from a controls standpoint.
•    Support the evaluation and enhancement of control system operations with an increasing scope of responsibility
•    Outline overall controls strategy with relation to future growth and sustainability along with any associated backup system requirements
•    Provide programming and engineering support in basic troubleshooting of machines within assembly / test issues.
•    Demonstrated ability to identify the source of system deficiencies and apply innovative solutions to technical, logistics and team challenges
•    Deliver Control systems engineering work-packages across multiple projects
•    Coordination of work with all members of design teams (contractors, engineers, manufacturing)
•    Must provide effective training in relationship to machinery, set up, operation, programming, and preventative maintenance to other engineers, maintenance, and production personnel.
•    Ensure training is documented.
•    Must be willing to complete any additional or ongoing training required to meet business objectives.
•    Special assignments/projects to be completed as assigned.
•    Focused efforts on achieving efficiency in processes and supporting reduction of overall cost to operate

Requirements

•    Machine design/specification experience (including qualification responsibilities)
•    Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
•    Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD preferable)
•    Working knowledge of PLC programming
•    Working knowledge of Robotics
•    Continuous Improvement and/or Cost Saving project experience
•    Troubleshooting machine problems (electrical, mechanical)
•    Automotive industry standards and process knowledge:  SORs, APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEAs, Flow Charts, Routings, TS 16949, etc.
•    BS degree in Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial Technology from an accredited institution
•    Above average verbal and written communication skills
•    Above average organizational and project management skills
•    PC Skills: Operating Systems (Windows 95/98/NT/XP), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Database (Access, dBase), etc.

Summary

Support and continuously improve processes & controls to help achieve goals and objectives for Manufacturing and Engineering. Involved in new and existing business quotations in regard to production equipment design and execution. Serve as technical expert for controls software management including licensing, troubleshooting controls issues, and back up programs.
