Primary Purpose:
The STEM Humanities teacher will provide language arts, social studies and interdisciplinary lessons for the district's 6th-8th grade students in the middle school highly gifted STEM Academy at Manvel Junior High. The teacher will, also, work with the STEM Coordinator to develop activities to support the implementation of the curricula and instructional programs that provide science, technology, engineering, and math learning opportunities to develop 21st Century skill sets.         
             
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Texas teacher secondary certification (4-8 ELA Certification OR 4-8 Generalist Certification required, high school certification a plus) Minimum of 30 Gifted and Talented Education foundation hours plus annual updates Gifted and Talented Supplemental Certification recommended Professional Development in the areas of STEM curriculum
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of social, emotional, and academic needs of highly gifted students
 
Experience:
Three years successful experience as a classroom teacher Ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction Ability to work with the science and mathematical teachers to integrate concepts that enhance STEM learning Experience implementing effective instructional practices and designing engaging lessons
 
Salary: Teacher/10 Months
