Job Summary
The Chief of School Safety/School Safety Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing district-wide school safety operations while fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and the community. This position provides visible security across school sites, conducts professional law enforcement duties and investigations, assists with crime and delinquency prevention, and supports student supervision through appropriate referrals. The role includes developing and implementing department policies, delivering safety-related educational programs, coordinating with local, state, and tribal law enforcement agencies, advising district administrators on crisis response, managing departmental budgeting and resources, and preparing reports for district leadership. The ideal candidate brings law enforcement experience, knowledge of applicable California laws and district policies, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive educational environment.

Qualifications
• Basic P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) Certificate.
• Meet legal requirements for possession of a concealable firearm.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certificate.
• Valid California driver's license.
• One (1) year of recent law enforcement experience or three (3) years part-time law enforcement experience.
• Experience working in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience working with reservation-based children preferred.
