Description

The Maintenance Coordinator works closely with the Parish Business Administrator to support assure the optimal safety and function of all parish building facilities and systems. This includes HVAC, lighting, mechanical, plumbing, sound system, landscaping, security, safety, janitorial, etc. The Maintenance Coordinator will interface with parish volunteers, staff and service vendors to manage repairs and upgrades. He/she will identify and prioritize facility needs within budget constraints, at times gathering multiple bids on repairs and upgrades.


Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish Christ the King Catholic Church – Belton, Texas which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at Christ the King Catholic Church – Belton, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.


Requirements

Essential Job Duties: 

• As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of Christ the King Catholic Churchin both your professional and personal life.

• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.

• Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.


MAINTENANCE

• Maintain a full list of facility components, service schedules and vendor contacts. Interface with vendors to schedule and oversee routine service work for preventive maintenance, safety inspections, pest management, and HVAC maintenance on facility systems such as care of boiler and air handling units and water loop, replacement of batteries for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, replacement of light bulbs as needed, etc.

• Develop good working relationships with service vendors, parish staff and volunteers. Coordinate and oversee maintenance services provided by parish volunteers and vendors, and assign small repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, phones, computers and carpentry to the appropriate resource.

• Perform property inspections, report damage/maintenance work, perform repairs as required. Maintain project and service logs. Work with parish ministries and volunteers to coordinate work days as needed.


CUSTODIAL/LANDSCAPING

• Ensure the sanctuary and entry ways are neat and clean throughout the week. As needed, provide cleaning in between scheduled janitorial service cleanings and lawn service visits.

• Work with lawn service to coordinate seasonal landscaping needs to ensure proper care. Set sprinkler systems for optimum water usage. Manage monitor water usage, identify leaks, coordinate with volunteers and contractors when needed, winterize irrigation systems in preparation for cold weather, bring systems back online in warmer months.

• Interface with janitorial vendor for cleaning assignments, schedule changes, and purchasing supplies. Sanitize all public areas frequently.


MEETING & EVENT SETUP

• Prepare parish facilities for meetings and events by setting up tables, chairs, and audio/visual equipment. Make sure rooms are neat, clean and welcoming. Communicate with all parish staff to provide support for their facility needs. Must have ability to run and trouble shoot A/V and sound equipment in different buildings.

• Carry out security checks of all facilities throughout the day.

• Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to parish staff needs.

• Other duties as assigned by Parish Business Administrator or Pastor.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Trainings:

• High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of related full time wage earning experience.

Language:

• English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing)

• Spanish (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing). Preferred but not required.

Catholic Requirement:

• Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Texas driver’s license.

• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.


Working Conditions:

• All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church. 

• The Parish is an at-will employer.

• All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free.

• Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.

• Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required.

• Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.  

• Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.

• May be required to use personal or parish vehicle to drive to off-site locations.

• Travelling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may require overnight lodging.
