Description
Scenic Rivers Health Services, in partnership with Cook Hospital, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Physician to provide high quality, patient centered emergency medical care in a rural, community focused setting. The Cook Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital and Level IV Trauma Center serving northeastern Minnesota.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage a broad range of emergent conditions with limited on-site specialty support, and a commitment to serving a rural community with professionalism and compassion. The ER Physician stabilizes and treats patients presenting with acute illness or injury, coordinates transfers when higher-level care is required, and collaborates closely with nursing, EMS, and ancillary staff to ensure safe, timely, and effective care.
The Cook Hospital has 14 inpatient beds and 4 ER bays with an average of 6.5 ER visits per day and seasonal variation. The average inpatient census is 2 patients per day.
This position will be employed by Scenic Rivers Clinic which is adjoined to the Cook Hospital and will be required to see acute visits as needed and available.
You will join a collaborative team of physicians who provide both ER coverage and clinic services, ensuring seamless care for the community.
EMR: The Cook Hospital uses Meditech Expanse and the Scenic Rivers clinic uses EPIC. All necessary EMR training will be tailored to your individual needs.

Requirements
- Experience in Emergency Medicine and Acute care settings, preferably in a rural setting
- Current or eligible for MN License
- DEA license
- Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine
- Life support certifications: BLS and CALS or ATLS required; PALS, ACLS and NRP preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage a wide range of emergent conditions with limited specialty backup
