Position Posting: Middle School Science/ELA Teacher

Position Summary

Reeths-Puffer Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Middle School Science/ELA Teacher. This position involves teaching both Science and English Language Arts to middle school students, fostering critical thinking, literacy development, and scientific inquiry. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that supports diverse learners and encourages curiosity, collaboration, and academic growth.

Qualifications

  • Must possess State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with English Language Arts (BA/BX) and Science (DI/DX) endorsements required; candidates with one endorsement and willingness to obtain the second may be considered.
  • Middle school teaching experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards for Science and ELA
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate literacy strategies across content areas
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to equity and meeting the needs of all learners

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in Science and ELA
  • Integrate reading, writing, and critical thinking skills across both subject areas
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Assess and monitor student progress, using data to inform instruction
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment
  • Collaborate with grade-level and interdisciplinary teams
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
  • Incorporate technology effectively to enhance student learning
