Description
The Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims has exclusive jurisdiction over workers' compensation matters and
is the agency responsible for administering claims and ensuring compliance with the workers’ compensation
provisions contained in KRS Chapter 342. The Department is committed to improving service and reducing costs
to its stakeholders in the Commonwealth.
The Department of Workers’ Claims (DWC) is seeking to fill a Workers’ Claims Director position located within the
Workers’ Compensation Funds.
This position requires performance of duties within the state of Kentucky. At the time employment commences,
the employee must be able to commute to and work in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Job duties include:
- Responsible for the day-to-day implementation and management of the Division of Workers' Compensation Funds
at the Department of Workers Claims by overseeing all administrative function and activities related to the
Special Fund. Authorize the staff to carry out all activities related to the administrative functions of the
Division. - Confer with and advise other division directors, and agency heads concerning legal questions regarding
the Special Fund and furnish written opinions. - Responsible for budget preparation and expenditures of the Division, accounting requirements, compliance
with state and federal financial requirements and maintenance of accounting records through auditing.
Responsible for the maintenance of payment records for all recipients paid out of the Special Funds. - Responsible for the overall supervision of personnel within the division. Approve time and attendance
records, approve leave and make recommendations on hiring and disciplinary actions. Conduct employee
evaluations. - Formulate, implement and enforce the Division's policies and procedures.
The preferred candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely,
and work cooperatively with a team, have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, a history of
working with customer service, databases, reports, have a working knowledge of the Kentucky Workers
Compensation systems and processes, and be a licensed attorney in the practice of law.
This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be
required to safeguard and secure all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete
training, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies, and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining
to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment
ends.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Six years of administrative or management experience, three of which must include direct supervision of personnel.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
