Job Description

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full-time, 40 per week, Residential Worker in EDMONTON to join our Resettlement Assistance Program. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community. Shifts will be Overnight-Awake. 

Job application closing date: April 30, 2026.

Due to the physical nature of the potion, the successful candidate can expect to spend 75% of their time standing or walking, and must be able to lift or move items more than 20 lbs while performing housekeeping duties.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for all duties at Reception House:
    • Providing orientation for refugees
    • Meal preparation and cooking
    • Preparing units for newcomers (Refugees) who are temporarily accommodated in the facility
    • Cleaning suites and hallways
    • Grocery shopping
    • Laundry
    • Sanitizing and disinfecting client rooms, meeting rooms, offices, common areas, and entrances.
  • Monitoring building security and responding to emergency related issues
  • Be at work in accordance with the work schedule unless otherwise approved by the Immediate supervisor
  • Promoting diverse and non-judgmental environment
  • Assist and collaborate with any emergency personal who may come to assist client in need
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of groceries and household supplies before clients arrive
  • Ensure each client unit equipped with devices such as, TV, Cellular phone, Internet, PPE etc.
  • Maintain professional conduct, boundaries, and ethical standards
  • Assist in maintaining the building and equipment according to Agency standard
  • Update client records shift to shift communication log, moving day, and cleaning schedule
  • Perform administrative tasks and complete accurate and up to date records in a data base
  • Perform basic computer tasks, including entering personal availability and viewing client information
  • Participate cooperatively in the agency performance management process
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training
  • Actively participate in workplace, departmental and job-specific health and safety orientation, education and training
  • Use or wear personal protective equipment (PPE) if it required
  • Perform other duties deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor

 

Second language is an asset.  Preference for fluency in one of the following languages:

What This Job Requires:

  • Completion of Grade 12 (High School Diploma) or equivalent.
  • Additional relevant certifications or designations considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and digital tools.
  • Experience working in residential, community or support settings preferred.
  • Ability to spend 75% of shift walking or standing
  • Ability to lift items over 20 lbs as part of housekeeping duties
  • Availability for a variety of shifts as required by the program

  • Excellent organization and planning skills, and attention to detail; must be able to manage multiple tasks with the ability to work independently
  • Strong ethics, along with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion.
  • Good Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven team player; demonstrates flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search within six (6) months
  • Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months

Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search and Intervention Record Check are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate. A personal vehicle and driver's abstract is also required.
