Job Description

The Richmond R-XVI School District is currently accepting applications for the position of:  District RN 


 


A School District Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive healthcare to students, managing chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma), administering medication, and delivering urgent care for injuries or illnesses. They conduct health screenings (vision, hearing), maintain immunization records, develop Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs/504s), and educate staff on health procedures.


 


Key Responsibilities


Clinical Care: Administer medications, provide first aid, and respond to emergencies.


Health Management: Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and 504 plans for students with chronic conditions.


Screenings & Compliance: Conduct mandatory vision, hearing, and growth screenings; monitor immunization records.


Training & Consultation: Train staff on CPR, first aid, medication administration, and infection control.


Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential student medical records.


Communication: Liaison between parents, school staff, physicians, and community health agencies.


 


Requirements


Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.


Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Nursing (BSN often preferred).


Current CPR and First Aid certifications.


Experience in pediatrics, school nursing, or emergency care is typically preferred.


Strong communication and assessment skills.
