Job Description

Hours: 40 
Salary: $15.69 
Calendar: Temporary Through September 
 
PURPOSE 
Performs semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and service works on school grounds. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 
The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform seasonal maintenance of school district grounds. The work is performed under the direct supervision of crew leader and grounds foreman. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Weed each school’s shrub beds, run gas powered trimmer along fence lines, clean parking lots of debris. 
  • May run small mowers mowing front areas of schools when needed. 
  • Mark irrigation heads for aeration. 
  • Run edger along sidewalks and other hardscapes. 
  • Performing grounds related maintenance of school districts buildings.                               

 
Other Duties and Responsibilities 

  • May be asked to perform any number of unskilled tasks relating to grounds work. 

 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
 
Knowledge of: 

  • Some understanding of grounds equipment and operation helpful. 

 
Ability to: 

  • Work in summer heat and sun for extended periods of time. 

 
QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must be dependable, and able to get along with others. We will train on equipment. 

 
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES 

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on the telephone; 
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents; 
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer; 
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 50 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment.
