Midi bus drivers pick up students at stops along established routes and drop them off at school. They may also transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events. Midi- bus drivers are typically employed part-time during the school year, often working split shifts of mornings and afternoons. The midi bus will be returned to the MacColl YMCA parking lot in between shifts and at the end of the day.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Midi- bus drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers.
- They must ensure that their vehicles are operating properly each day by testing brakes, tires and other components and record in their record book.
- Drivers are responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.
- Assist the bus monitor in providing age appropriate activities to reduce inappropriate behavior while transporting children
- Report any changes or concerns to the appropriate Site Director in a timely manner
- Check the bus at the beginning and end of each route to ensure all children and belongings are not left on the bus
- Keeping the bus clean and free from vandalism
- Be familiar with the transportation policies and procedures as it relates to emergency situations
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and memos
