POSITION TITLE: Part-Time Career and Technical Education Paraprofessional
POSITION SUMMARY: The paraprofessional is responsible for assisting students in Career and Technical Education classes under the direction of a CTE instructor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the students’ successful completion of coursework through tutoring, daily note taking, makeup work and assisting with tests, quizzes and/or projects. Responsible for completing semester/trimester summary reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to work with special needs students.
- Demonstrated ability to handle situations in a confidential and professional manner.
- Demonstrated verbal, written and oral communication skills
- High school graduate required, post-secondary education preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Prefer experience in Career and Technical Education and/or Welding.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist students in Career and Technical Education classes under the direction of a CTE instructor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting the students’ successful completion of coursework through tutoring, daily note taking, makeup work and projects.
- Modify and/or proctor tests, quizzes and other assessments.
- Provide instruction to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher and reinforce skills introduced by the teacher.
- Assist teacher with individual, small group, and classroom instruction as determined by student needs.
- Reinforce rules of the school and the classroom.
- Responsible for completing trimester/semester reports.
- Attend paraprofessional meetings and staff development sessions as requested by supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by SRESD Associate Superintendent/CTE Director.
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent/CTE Director
WAGE/BENEFITS: $15.45/hour - $20.92/hour, based on experience; no additional benefits
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Up to 19 hours per week, 10 month position August - May, approximately 9:45am-1:45pm, Monday - Friday.
LOCATION: Placement would be at Baker College-Owosso in the CTE Welding Program. CTE program placement may vary from school year to school year.
