Description
Under direct supervision, to perform a variety of journey level skilled tasks in the following areas: Installation and repair of water distribution mains, water services, fire hydrants, meters, pumps, motors, water plant facilities, and associated appurtenances. Also operates the water system utilizing a SCADA control system. The ability to operate heavy equipment (backhoe-front end loader, dump truck) is preferred, but not required and knowledge of related hand tools. Sets up and removes traffic control and directs traffic at work sites. Job requires participating in the Standby (On Call) program (7 days per shift), knowledge and experience in basic water sampling procedures, and reporting, understands the use of computers, and have the ability to exercise computer skills relevant to the position.
Requirements
Graduation from and accredited high school, equivalent school or GED certificate
2-3 years of water industry experience
Must have and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license issued by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles at time of hire. Within 9 months of hire date, must have and maintain a Class A or B driver’s license with air brake endorsement issued by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, employer will cover related costs.
Must have and maintain a valid Grade 2 Water Distribution Operators license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board, and/or AWWA/ ITCA at time of hire.
Grade 1 Water Treatment Operators license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board and/or ITCA at time of hire and able to acquire a Grade 2 Water Treatment license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board, or ITCA within 12 months of hire.
Work Hours/Days: M-F 8/hrs/day, or 4-day 10/hrs/day work schedule
Annual Salary Range: $77,438.00 to $84,282.00
