Position Description: Fellowships Manager

Location: Hybrid in Los Angeles, CA (Weekend sessions and regional travel required)

ABOUT DLI

The Diversity in Leadership Institute (DLI) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is dedicated to creating equitable educational outcomes for Black and Latinx students in California by cultivating a diverse and culturally competent pipeline of public education leaders.

With a focus on racial diversity, equity, and inclusion (RDEI), DLI seeks to transform the educational landscape by increasing the representation of Black and Latinx leaders in K–12 schools through our signature 3-pronged approach:

  • Leadership Fellowships: Comprehensive programs that support aspiring school leaders of color through leadership coaching, mentorship, and professional development — including the Aspiring Principals of Color Fellowship (in partnership with University partner) and the Diverse Leaders Fellowship (in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education).
  • School Leaders of Color Network (SLOCN): A membership-based network connecting current and aspiring school leaders of color through culturally responsive programming, collaboration, and advocacy.
  • Coalition Building: Legislative and policy advocacy through the Charting the Course to Equity Coalition (CCEC) to promote the development and retention of educators of color across California.

Through these programs, DLI drives systemic change, fosters leadership diversity, and ensures that more students in California see leaders who reflect their own identities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Fellowships Manager to join our growing team. This role supports the success of DLI’s fellowship programs by overseeing program operations, data systems, and fellow engagement. Reporting to the Fellowship Managing Director, the Fellowship Manager ensures participants have a high-quality, well-organized, and equity-centered leadership development experience.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systems-oriented, and passionate about developing leaders of color through strong program design, clear communication, and effective facilitation.

In this role, you will manage fellowship projects and events, strengthen systems for data collection and tracking, and maintain consistent communication through the fellowship newsletter. You will also support the facilitation of fellowship sessions and regular check-ins, helping to build a connected and engaged community of aspiring school leaders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Data Management & Reporting (30–40%)

  • Manage and maintain accurate data on fellows, including applications, participation, and outcomes.
  • Strengthen systems (e.g., Monday.com, Airtable, or CRM) to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Produce data summaries and reports for internal learning and grant submissions.
  • Track recruitment, participation, and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement.

Project Management & Program Operations (25–30%)

  • Lead project planning, timelines, and communications across the Fellowship and SLOCN programs.
  • Coordinate key program milestones including recruitment, onboarding, and completion.
  • Oversee logistics for Saturday colloquium sessions, ensuring materials and communications are organized.
  • Partner with the Strategic Partnerships team to align on recruitment and seat allocation.

Fellowship Engagement  (25–30%)

  • Support with fellow check-ins to assess progress, gather feedback, and strengthen engagement.
  • Lead the coordination and logistics of colloquial sessions, workshops, and fellowship events, ensuring seamless execution and consistency across all programming.
  • Manage consistent communication through newsletters, updates, and outreach to sustain connection across both programs.
  • Track participation and engagement data to inform programming decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to enhancing the overall fellow and member experience, fostering leadership growth, and ensuring alignment across DLI’s leadership development ecosystem.
