    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Physical Therapist (PT) provides evaluation, consultation, and direct therapy services to students with disabilities to support their physical access to the educational environment. The PT works collaboratively with educators, parents, and related service providers to improve student mobility, strength, coordination, and functional independence, ensuring access to curriculum and school activities. 

    Essential Functions

    • Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations using standardized and non-standardized assessment tools
    • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with student IEP goals
    • Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services to students
    • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers to support student mobility and access
    • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and accommodations
    • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
    • Recommend adaptive equipment (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, positioning devices) as appropriate
    • Train staff and parents on safe mobility techniques and strategies to support student success
    • Ensure compliance with IDEA and other applicable laws and regulations
    • Maintain a safe and organized therapy environment
    • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
    • Maintain professionalism with staff members.
    • Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
    • Adhere to all policies of the District.

     

    SKILLS & ABILITIES            

            Education:    Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution

     

            Experience: Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred

    Experience working with students with orthopedic impairments,  neurological conditions, and developmental delays preferred

     

     

            Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency 

                                    with computers and programs associated with the position.                                                        

              Certifications & Licenses: Current Arkansas Physical Therapy License 

     

     

    Other Requirements: 

    1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
