Job Description

The Digital Delivery Consultant plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful digital delivery of large-scale construction projects, focusing on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) standards and workflows.

Who is a great fit?

The ideal candidate is a proactive, highly communicative BIM/VDC professional who thrives at the intersection of technology, construction, and project management. You are a "Strategic Link" who can seamlessly bridge the gap between high-level program standards (baseline designs) and on-the-ground site execution. You love teaching and mentoring others, possess a problem-solving mindset, and are comfortable managing multiple priorities across diverse, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You excel not just in Revit and common data environments (CDE), but in driving adoption, enforcing governance, and bringing order to complex digital workflows.

Key Responsibilities

BIM Management and Implementation

  • BEP Ownership: Lead, support, and validate the implementation of project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP), ensuring adherence to minimum required client deliverables.
  • Model Governance: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and compliance of site models, enforcing strict naming standards, standardized worksets, shared coordinates, and proper family usage.
  • Model Initiation: Execute and validate cloud collaboration setup and model dissemination processes, ensuring all required models and standards are correctly deployed to site teams.
  • Content Management: Provide guidance on the correct protocol for Revit family creation, collaborating with internal teams (e.g., cost management, content management) to ensure new families and parameters meet strict project requirements.

Digital Delivery Leadership

  • Platform Governance: Act as the primary gatekeeper and administrator for the project's Common Data Environment (such as Autodesk Construction Cloud), ensuring strict adherence to owner standards for folder structures, tags, version sets, and issue types.
  • Site Execution: Serve as the end-to-end (E2E) digital delivery lead for assigned projects, guiding them from Design Kickoff through construction and handover.
  • Process Enforcement: Enforce General Contractor (GC) standardization and leverage the BEP to clarify "extra scope" versus "hard requirements."
  • Escalation Management: Identify and resolve site-level BIM challenges or "fires," escalating complex issues to program-level subject matter experts when necessary.

Team Coordination and Training

  • Meeting Facilitation: Host and lead critical project syncs, including BIM Kick-offs, engineering alignment meetings, milestone design reviews, and design-to-construction handoff meetings.
  • Training & Onboarding: Conduct and prepare materials for live and self-guided training sessions on digital platforms, takeoff tools, and digital delivery workflows for internal staff, design teams, and general contractors.
  • Support & Hypercare: Attend weekly design meetings, host office hours, and provide continuous support to ensure seamless team adoption of required platforms and workflows.

Data Management and Quality Assurance

  • Milestone Reviews (QA/QC): Perform rigorous design submission reviews at key milestones (30%, 65%, 95%, IFC) using site-specific execution checklists, model health checkers, and clash reports.
  • Data Tagging & Takeoff: Oversee asset classification tagging schedules and validate design configurations to ensure accurate model-based quantities and integration with digital takeoff tools.
  • Issue Tracking: Ensure BIM issues are actively tracked, correctly assigned, and resolved in a timely manner utilizing design decision tracking logs and platform issue modules.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the central liaison between Design Project Managers, Architects, General Contractors, Civil leads, and central program teams.
  • Specialized Integration: Support the scheduling and alignment of specialized data handoffs and tagging integrations.
  • Change Management: Review technical bulletins and design changes for VDC impacts, ensuring updates are incorporated into site models.

Innovation and Technology Adoption

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas of need for better BIM standards, writing reports, user guides, and custom scripts for internal and external audiences.
  • Tool Testing: Test, evaluate, and implement new CAD/BIM initiatives, workflows, and tools.
  • Feedback Loops: Collect lessons learned and performance feedback from site execution, providing structured insights to the central digital delivery team to optimize future baseline models.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Portfolio Tracking: Maintain and update vital tracking systems, including portfolio trackers, project management boards, and site project rosters.
  • Deviation Tracking: Review and validate Site Model Deviation Reports, tracking changes between localized site models and baseline program models.
  • Deliverable Documentation: Monitor and enforce the delivery of design deliverable indices, master model matrices, and linked model matrices.

Skills and Experience

Technical Skills

  • BIM/VDC Expertise: Extensive background in BIM/VDC principles and practices within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
  • Software Proficiency: Deep expertise in Common Data Environments (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud), Revit, Navisworks, and Civil 3D.
  • Data Normalization: Strong understanding of data management, parameter structuring, and extracting model-based quantities for estimation.
  • Systems Architecture: Familiarity with complex, multi-model ecosystems and coordinating large-scale federated models.

Soft Skills

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical workflows to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Active Listening: "Intense listening" skills to capture schedule changes, design pivots, and unspoken challenges during fast-paced project meetings.
  • Problem-Solving: A proactive, analytical mindset capable of spotting downward trends in model health and formulating rapid corrective action plans.
  • Adaptability: High comfort level working in a highly dynamic, evolving environment with frequent program changes and iterative design packages.

Managerial & Leadership Skills

  • Capacity & Workload Assessment: Ability to audit technical requirements, assess personal/team bandwidth, and prioritize tasks effectively across a portfolio of multiple inflight projects.
  • Change Management: Skill in driving platform adoption, managing resistance to new workflows, and enforcing contractual standards firmly but collaboratively.
  • Mentorship: A passion for educating others, assessing skill gaps across vendor teams, and deploying effective training and ramp-up plans.
  • Strategic Alignment: Capability to act as an authoritative representative of the Owner, balancing program directives with practical site-level realities.
