Job Description

The Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting the development of Embedded Electronics and Software/Firmware supporting products developed by XTG Design Services.  This individual is also responsible, under supervision, for Architecture, Test Planning, Testing and Quality Assurance. 

Connected Development is a leading contract design engineering company specializing in IoT wireless technology.  CD is a part of Exponential Technology Group (XTG); XTG is part of the TTI Family of Companies.  This position is onsite at the company headquarters in Richardson, Texas.  

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Follows an outlined schedule for training that includes introductions to various departments, experts in the industry, and overviews of Connected Development procedures.  Utilizes the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and on the job to complete assigned tasks and support business initiatives.

Under supervision, formulate and define system scope and objectives to develop software, electronics hardware, or firmware for complex embedded systems.

Utilize schematic capture tools and computer simulation to create designs for complex systems. 

Use electronic test equipment such as emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. 

Utilize vendor resources to incorporate the latest technology in new designs.

Under supervision, prepare feasibility analysis, cost estimates and detailed specifications from which electronic and software designs may be executed.

Work at a technical level on complex applications.

Responsible for adhering to company development and quality standards.

Work in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and overall systems engineers.

Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must be pursing degree from a four-year University in related field of study, preferably in Junior or Senior year of college, or have completed four-year degree. Some work experience preferred; with focus/interest in a career in engineering.

  • Exhibits ability to learn and retain technical knowledge of company products and services.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word) at an intermediate level required.
  • Exhibits strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Real Time Kernel / Multitasking Skills
  • C/C++ and Python Language Skills
  • Digital Electronic Development Skills, including Microprocessors and Microcontrollers
  • Firmware diagnostic tool experience (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, In Circuit Debuggers, etc.)
  • Embedded Linux/other OS Driver or Application experience a plus
