Lower School Additional Information: Show/Hide - Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce English language skills and academic content introduced by the ELD teacher and/or classroom teacher.
- Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Assist the ELD teacher and classroom teachers in adapting instructional materials and strategies to meet students' language proficiency levels, interests, and abilities.
- Guide independent practice, enrichment work, and remedial activities as assigned by the ELD teacher.
- Read to students, listen to students read, and engage students in structured oral language practice.
- Support administration of language development activities and classroom-based assessments as directed by the ELD teacher.
- Help maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate observations regarding student performance and language development to the ELD teacher and classroom teachers.
- Assist in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment that reflects international-mindedness and cultural responsiveness.
- Support classroom routines, transitions, and organization to maximize instructional time.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and field trips as assigned.
- Assist students with classroom materials, organization, and daily routines as needed.
- Alert the ELD teacher and/or classroom teacher to any concerns or significant information regarding individual students.
- Participate in planning meetings, staff development, and in-service training programs as assigned.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Aptitude for supporting language and academic instruction.

Job Summary:
The English Language Development (ELD) Paraprofessional provides instructional support, under the direction of the English Language Development (ELD) Teacher and classroom teachers, to students who speak a language other than English at home. The ELD Paraprofessional supports students in developing English language proficiency and accessing grade-level curriculum. This position is .2 FTE and is based in the Lower School (Kindergarten�5th Grade). The paraprofessional will report on days students are present. The ELD Paraprofessional helps bring the concepts of language development and an internationally minded learning environment to life by supporting individual students and small groups in language acquisition, academic growth, and social-emotional development.
Hourly Range: $15.50- $18.50

This position requires vocal communication, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and the use of hands to handle instructional materials.
