    POSITION TITLE:            HEAD START  PART DAY TEACHER ASSISTANT I or II 

    LOCATION:                     LINCOLN

    POSTING DATE:             September 5, 2025

    HOURS:                            29.5 hours per week

    DAYS: .                             195 days per year, August to June 

    SALARY SCHEDULE:     Rate of pay: Teacher Assist. Classified Level 3 at $13.68 per hour or Teacher Asst. II Classified Level 5 at $16.50 per hour, depending on educational background.

    START DATE:                  September 15, 2025

    JOB SUMMARY:            The Teaching Assistant assists the teacher with planning and implementing classroom activities, parent activities and with preparation of the physical environment; works with parents and volunteers; participates in child assessment and home education home visits and parent-teacher conferences; takes on the role of teacher in the absence of the teacher.
      
    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Teacher Assistant I - GED or High School diploma with committment to obtain a CDA or higher within first two years of hire. 
    Teacher Assistant II - CDA, Intermediate Technical Certificate or AA in early childhood. 


    1.  Must demonstrate a competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
    2. Basic computer skills (e-mail, data entry into HS Database)

    DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience working in Head Start or other early childhood setting
    • Experience working with diverse families in low-income communities
    • Experience working with children with disabilities and with challenging behaviors
    • Bilingual

    HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS:   An initial physical exam is required, unless employee can provide documentation of exam completed within prior 12 months.
                                                     CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment
