Position: Host/Hostess
Reports to: Food & Beverage Supervisor
FLSA designation: Non-Exempt
The purpose of Host/Hostess position is to ensure a superb dining experience for all members and guests in accordance with the high standards of the Latrobe Country Club. Provide an organized, effective and balanced level of service by supporting the service staff to attain optimum performance. Greet and communicate with guest and members, making them feel comfortable and ensuring satisfaction with the product and the service provided.
Primary Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
- Meet and greet all members and guests immediately as they arrive.
- Seat guests and members according to Club procedures.
- Assist Food & Beverage Supervisor with any projects as requested.
- Assist Food & Beverage Supervisor with training staff to ensure uniformity and proficiency in service and presentation.
- Ensure service levels are achieved by being on the floor and available for support 100% of time.
- Answer telephone calls efficiently and quickly.
- Receive reservations and ensure that information is accurately recorded.
- Ensure that to-go orders and room service orders are completed, and executed in a timely manner, adhering to the guest’s specifications.
- Support and assume the role of Bartender, Server and Assistant Server as volume dictates.
- Utilize all communication materials i.e. logs and reports.
- Ensure that the appropriate menus are distributed at the appropriate time of day.
- Ensure that all maintenance needs are taken care of through the use of maintenance tickets.
- Promote and support excellent employee, member and guest relations.
- Perform any other duties that may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Characteristics Required
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to communicate with all levels. Communicate instructions to staff members.
- Excellent customer/member service skills.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
- Ability to train, coach and motivate optimum performance.
- Ability to remain calm and focused while keeping up with a busy dining room
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds. Must be able to endure long periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift and move heavy trays on an as needed basis.
- Must have a minimum of 2-4 years previous food & beverage service experience. Supervisor experience preferred.
