Job Description

About the role

BAO Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Accounting Advisory practice. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, and PE sponsors — owning complex engagements end-to-end while building our practice and developing the next generation of BAO talent. This is a high-visibility role with a clear path to Director.

What you'll do

  • Serve as engagement lead for complex accounting advisory and financial reporting projects, managing scope, timeline, budget, and quality
  • Provide authoritative technical accounting guidance on multi-faceted issues including consolidations, variable interest entities (VIEs), complex debt instruments, equity compensation (ASC 718), impairment, and purchase price allocations
  • Lead financial statement preparation, restatement, and audit remediation engagements
  • Drive accounting policy development, adoption of new standards, and implementation of accounting changes
  • Act as primary relationship owner for key client accounts; proactively identify and address evolving client needs
  • Build and manage high-performing engagement teams; mentor Managers and Senior Associates
  • Contribute to practice development including methodology, tools, templates, and thought leadership
  • Actively participate in business development, including proposal writing, pitching, and client entertainment
  • Collaborate with BAO leadership on resource allocation, utilization, and talent planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's a plus; CPA required
  • 7–10 years of total experience with at least 4 years in a public accounting or consulting advisory role
  • Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus
  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent client engagements and engagement teams
  • Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent project management skills; experience managing budgets and billing

Preferred qualifications

  • Big 4 or top-tier national firm experience
  • Experience advising PE-backed or sponsor-owned businesses
  • Exposure to capital markets transactions (IPO readiness, SPAC, debt offerings)
  • Established professional network in Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston markets

Company benefits

  • Medical, Dental & Vision - comprehensive coverage for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with Employer Match - we invest in your future, not just your clients'.
  • Unlimited PTO - take the time you need.  We measure output, not hours.
  • Paid Parental Leave - time to be present when it matters most.
  • Professional Development - CPA CPE reimbursement and continuing education support.
