Job Description
The Patient Observer is responsible for providing constant patient observation under the direction of a registered nurse (RN). Observation may include more than one patient. The Patient Observer must be able to clearly see all patients for whom he/she is responsible at all times or conduct safety checks on patients under the direction of the RN when assigned to the Behavioral Health unit. The Patient Observer must uphold established ECH customer service standards at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in healthcare OR ADN nursing student with successful completion of medical/surgical practicum OR EMT certification, OR Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)
Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Excellent verbal, interactive, and listening skills
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with other healthcare providers.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Current BLS certification
*Placement in the Behavioral Health Unit or Emergency Department requires:
a. Volunteer or educational experience working with patients with mental illness.
b. Must attend non-violent crisis prevention training
c. Able to walk up to 90% of shift
Salary Range:
$23.57 - $27.07 USD Hour
