Job Description
General Summary:

The Patient Intake Float will become an expert in each of the roles within the Intake Process. The day-to-day roles could include patient registration, front desk check-in, call center support, chart prep, or scheduling of new or established patients. 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Essential Duties: 

  1. Be flexible in day-to-day schedule.
  2. For any roles that could be filled, stay up to date on all workflows.
  3. Answers phones and taking messages accurately.
  4. Scheduling appointments.
  5. Verifying referrals.
  6. Updating insurance information.
  7. Collecting patient copays and payments.
  8. Utilizing EMR portals to prep patient medical record.
  9. Ability to travel to all oncology offices for assigned role.
  10. Utilizes good communication skills in addressing concerns or problems
  11. Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

- High School Diploma of GED Required

- Ability to excel in an environment of constant change, problems, and unexpected interruptions, where high pressure to deliver results is expected. 

- Familiar with utilizing EMR systems. 

- Willingness to work remotely from one oncology office to help another oncology office.

- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.  

- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.   

- Flexibility and ability to adjust to a constantly changing work environment

- Knowledge of medical office operations, terminology, clinic policies/procedures, paperwork. 

- Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, copier, computer

- Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques

- Ability to use a multi-line telephone system.

- Ability to communicate clearly in person, on the phone, and via the computer to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other customers.

- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.

- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively

- Ability to excel in an environment of constant change, problems and unexpected interruptions, where extreme pressure to deliver results is expected. 

- Knowledge of computer systems and applications.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft office and EMRs.

- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.  

- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures
