About the Department
Conducts routine, complex, and special inspections. Will train and instruct new employees in the techniques and procedures used in performing inspections, handling investigations, surveys, or complaints. Will take action indicated by results of inspections, tests, and investigations. Makes recommendations concerning the proper application of laws, rules, and regulations. Completes detailed inspection reports. Maintains records pertaining to inspection schedules and results. Checks for requirements prescribed by law, such as proper licensing, record keeping, security, safety and sanitary conditions, ACA Regulatory Laws and Regulations. Direct inmate contact. Works security post as needed.
In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.

Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center) (SPB 3088).If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in a closely related field
OR
Substitution: Coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester hours for every one (1) year of required experience.
Promotional Only: Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience gained within the same agency or in a comparable work environment may substitute for the required experience.
Special Requirement: (1) Licensure and/or certification pertinent to the work performed. (2) A valid driver's license may be required.
