Job Description

The HCOP Academy Student Facilitator position is an integral part of Touro University's Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) aimed at serving students who identify as educationally or economically disadvantaged and are interested in the healthcare field. The HCOP program is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant and is designed to assist individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds in entering and graduating from allied health or health professions programs. The Student Facilitator will help develop and implement health education and health promotion program activities, particularly during the 6-week HCOP summer program. Additionally, this position will support the mentor ladder initiative, which aims to build mentorship opportunities for students at various educational levels

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the development and implementation of health education and health promotion program activities.
  • Support the mentor ladder initiative by facilitating mentorship opportunities for students at different educational levels.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and mentors to ensure the successful delivery of the HCOP program.
  • Provide guidance and support to program participants, particularly those who identify as educationally or economically disadvantaged.
  • Help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for program participants.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to program coordination and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with HCOP teams to understand the objectives and requirements of their community-based research projects.
  • Education, Training, and/or related experience needed by the person to perform the job.
  • DO, PA, PharmD, MPH student, or related educational degree preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates who identify as educationally or economically disadvantaged.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in healthcare professions.

 

Pay: $19/hr.

The HCOP Academy Student Facilitator will play a vital role in supporting the goals and objectives of the HRSA-funded HCOP program, helping to empower students from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in healthcare careers.
