Job summary:
The lead barista is a skilled barista with the potential to grow as a bar leader. providing proven ability to implement the training
program and provide technical guidance to new team members. S/He provides quality customer service, demonstrates knowledge
and continues to learn and educate themselves on coffee/tea products and related equipment. Continuously building customer
relationships and fostering a positive and friendly store environment. The lead barista fulfills any other duties the manager or the
assistant manager assigns.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Leadership
• Obtain NYC Food Protection Certificate within 60 days of obtaining role
• Train new hires on product knowledge, service standards and espresso machine operation, acting as a mentor.
• Supervise opening or closing duties in the absence of a manager, communicating with management via telephone
regarding any staffing or facilities issues.
• Report any service, maintenance, or quality concerns to management so that they can address.
• Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
• Provides quality control and standardize the execution of the recipes from his team.
• Maintaining the equipment efficient.
• Participate as a member of the opening team in a new location.
• Reports all customer complaints to the manager on duty.
• Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greetings, directions to
store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.
Counter Service & Maintenance
• Greet the guests who approach the counter displays and walk into the café
• Answer all guest questions related to product and displayed items
• Pack and provide the guests with requested items
• Ensure that all items are correctly rung-in on checks
• Safely handles all hot and cold drinks during preparation.
• Maintain correct pars of items in the display
• Maintain appearance of counter and the display in an on-going manner throughout the hours of operation
• Follow and complete closing counter check list prior to departure
• Perform the cash drawer checkout after each shift (ask management for assistance if needed).
• Accurately maintain the organization and cleanliness of the counter in accordance with the Health Department standards
• Requisition all needed food items and keep the counter always stocked and restock it in the end of the shift (for example
cookie tins, olive oil bottles, etc.)
• Prepare all packing products needed for wrapping of items and food products
• Communicate any problems (lighting, cooling units, etc.) to management immediately
• Mark food items with dates at the end of your shift
• Clean the counter at the end of the shift
Minimal Essential Requirements:
• The ability to work as part of a team, and personal cleanliness (including uniform cleanliness)
• Very basic food handling, preparation, and cleaning skills are welcomed
• Time management and ability to work under pressure to manage high volume of production
• Active listening and learning skills
• Reading and speaking comprehension skills
• Discipline to follow set standards
• Ability to lift up to 25lbs
