About Us
Ovation Law Firm is a fast-growing, consumer-focused law firm based in the United States, committed to delivering exceptional legal services while fostering a high-performance, accountable workplace. With a global workforce that includes in-house and remote team members across the United States, Latin America, and the Philippines, we're building the infrastructure, culture, and people operations needed to scale thoughtfully.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to serve as the strategic HR leader for our growing, global firm. Reporting to firm leadership, this role will own the full people function — culture, employee experience, benefits, compliance, employee relations, policy, training, and HR operations across multiple countries.
You will lead and develop the HR team, partner with department leaders, advise executive leadership, and personally own the most sensitive employee matters. You'll be the architect of our employee handbook, HR policies, operating cadence, and core training programs.
U.S. HR experience is a plus but not required. Candidates without direct U.S. HR experience must be eager and committed to learning U.S. employment laws, multi-state compliance, and best practices. Strong English communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic HR advisor to firm leadership; participate in leadership meetings and support compliant employment decisions across a multi-country workforce.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the HR team; establish clear responsibilities, escalation paths, and service standards.
- Advise on escalated employee relations matters, performance concerns, and sensitive workplace situations; coach leaders through corrective action, PIPs, and separations.
- Drive the firm's culture strategy, building programs that strengthen connection across in-house and remote teams and support engagement and retention.
- Design and continuously improve firm-wide training and development programs, including onboarding, compliance, leadership development, and management training.
- Oversee benefits programs, open enrollment, compensation philosophy, and total rewards strategy across multiple countries.
- Own the company handbook, HR policies, and employee-facing documentation; identify risk areas and recommend scalable improvements.
- Partner with hiring managers on select strategic hires and support workforce planning and employer branding.
- Create internal communication standards including newsletters, bulletins, and video channels.
- Lead monthly salary reviews and oversee bonus plans, salary administration, and historical data reporting.
- Analyze workforce productivity metrics such as turnover and absenteeism to identify trends and solutions.
Qualifications
- Experience leading HR for a workforce with both in-house and remote team members, ideally across multiple locations or countries.
- You bring extensive experience in senior Talent & Culture leadership roles.
- Strong background in employee relations, performance management, and handling sensitive matters with discretion.
- You demonstrate strong strategic thinking, initiative, and decision-making capabilities.
- You have a proven ability to drive associate engagement and foster a culture of belonging.
- Proven experience designing training and development programs at an organizational level.
- Proven experience building or improving HR infrastructure — policies, handbooks, operating models, HR systems, and team structure.
- Experience leading HR team members and overseeing benefits, compensation, and total rewards.
- Excellent judgment, emotional intelligence, and discretion.
- Strong English communication skills (C1 level or higher), verbal and written.
- U.S. HR experience preferred but not required; candidates without it must be committed to learning U.S. employment laws and multi-state compliance.
Nice-To-Have
- HR experience supporting U.S. employees and multi-state compliance.
- HR experience within a law firm or professional services firm.
- HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR, or country-equivalent).
- Experience building culture for hybrid or remote workforces.
- Experience with e-learning content, LMS implementation, or video-based training.
- Experience scaling HR during rapid company growth.
- Fluency in Spanish.
What We Offer
