Position:  Head Boys Basketball Coach & Assistant Athletic Director 

Reports To: Director of Athletics

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Overview:

Mount Pisgah Christian School (MPCS) is seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Head Boys Basketball Coach & Assistant Athletic Director. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the boys’ basketball program, while also playing a key role in the administration and operations of the athletic department.

The ideal candidate will be committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the court, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship that aligns with the mission of MPCS.

Responsibilities:

Head Boys Basketball Coach Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program for student-athletes in grades 5-12.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive and effective coaching staff.
  • Plan and lead structured practices, game strategies, and player development programs.
  • Conduct pre-season and post-season meetings with players, coaches, and staff.
  • Organize and oversee off-season workouts and summer training programs.
  • Manage team equipment, uniforms, and budgetary needs.
  • Ensure compliance with GHSA rules and regulations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through coaching clinics, conferences, and program visitations.

Assistant Athletic Director Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Athletic Director and coaching staff.
  • Oversee game-day operations, including event logistics, staffing, and execution.
  • Serve as a coordinator for the Middle School Leadership Program.
  • Manage concessions inventory, ordering, and volunteers.
  • Assist with additional administrative duties that enhance the student-athlete experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven success in coaching basketball at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive athletic culture.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, coaches, faculty, and parents.

  • Occasionally work nights and weekends in support of departmental school activities.
