Your Next Career Opportunity – Senior Structural Engineer

The primary function of this position is to conduct a structural analysis of communication towers and their tower foundations, which includes the generation of analysis reports, peer reviews, and sign-seal of the Engineering documents. Communication towers include but are not limited to monopole towers, self-supporting towers, guyed towers, etc. This position is also responsible for antenna mount design, analysis, and modifications of the carrier mounts that are existing and proposed on our tower assets.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform and review the mount analysis (MA) and mount modifications of high complexity, in collaboration with our Engineering partners to resolve discrepancies and maintain quality.
  • Review and stamp the tower structural analyses performed by in-house Engineering.
  • Recommend changes to mount manufacturers on the new mount before fabrication.
  • Perform tower MAs & roof top mounts in RISA 3D and other relevant software.
  • Prepare Mathcad and spreadsheet calculations to verify the FEA results through hand calculations.
  • Prepare formal, written reports detailing designs of modifications on projects of high complexity consisting of mount reinforcement, tower reinforcements and foundations.
  • Ability to automate the mount analysis process through spreadsheet.
  • Assist with the development of policies, procedures, standards, and code related activity.
  • Assist in the design of modifications for mount reinforcing.
  • Generate required engineering reports for review.
  • Draw models in AutoCAD 2014 in 2D, as well as 3D.
  • Review shop drawings, structural drawings, calculations, and Tower Inspection reports.
  • Work cross functionally with other team members and groups within the organization.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field of study; Master’s degree in Civil /Structural Engineering, or a related field preferred;
    • and 5-10 years experience in telecom tower or mount analysis, design of structures and their foundations in both unit systems (US customary and SI systems).
    • and 3-5 years experience in antenna mount design, analysis and their modifications in RISA 3D.
  • Knowledge of FEA software like ANSYS Workbench, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, SAP or any other related software is a plus.
  • Experience with modeling, design, and analysis of vertical structures required.
  • Working knowledge of TIA-222 code and other relevant specifications required.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team in a high production environment.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD 2014 required.
  • Experience working with MATHCAD required.
  • Experience working with Finite Element Analysis or related Software required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Domestic Travel 10% of the time
  • Valid Government Issued Driver's License
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Certified Structural Engineer (SECB)
  • Other National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveyors certification
