The Account Analyst supports the financial operations of the institution by performing account reconciliations, financial analysis, reporting, and compliance monitoring. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and assisting departments with budget management. The Account Analyst will also actively support the institution’s financial transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring data accuracy, process alignment, and user adoption. This position is a term-limited appointment with a duration of three (3) years.
Key Responsibilities include
Financial Analysis & Reporting
• Prepare, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis.
• Support year-end closing processes and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, federal/state regulations, and higher education accounting standards (e.g., GASB or FASB as applicable).
ERP Implementation & Financial Systems Support
• Assist in the financial transition to a new ERP system, including data validation, chart of accounts mapping, and system testing.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and external consultants to ensure accurate migration of financial data.
• Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and identify system issues or process gaps.
• Develop and update financial procedures to align with new ERP workflows.
• Provide training and support to campus users on financial modules and reporting tools.
• Maintain documentation of processes and internal controls during and after implementation.
Operational Support
• Review and approve financial transactions in accordance with institutional policies.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies.
• Assist departments with financial inquiries and reporting needs.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting or financial analysis experience (higher education experience preferred).
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Banner, Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.).
• Strong proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
