About the Department
The Southern Area and Northern Area Landscape Departments are seeking Landscape Aides. This Position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of public gardens, Commission parks, and landscaped areas surrounding Commission buildings. This position supports day-to-day-to-day field operations and contributes to the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of M-NCPPC properties.
The role involves training in detailed landscaping tasks, including planting, pruning, site cleanup, Mulching, and turf care. The Landscape Aide is also responsible for learning how to monitor plant health and assist with landscape improvement projects as assigned. Some prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or park maintenance is preferred.

- Perform routine landscape maintenance, including planting, mulching, weeding, pruning, mowing, and general groundskeeping
- Monitor plant health and report signs of disease, pest activity, or environmental stress to the Team Leaders
- Maintain landscaped areas around Commission buildings, parks, and public facilities in a safe and presentable condition
- Assist with landscape improvement projects, renovations, and special event site preparations
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and light landscaping equipment safely and in accordance with department policies
- Support seasonal tasks such as spring and fall cleanups, holiday decorations, and event setups
- Follow all safety guidelines and participate in required training programs
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently
- Maintain compliance with department procedures, including proper use of equipment and materials
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Availability to work assigned schedule
Preferred
- Some prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or park maintenance is preferred
- Position requires the ability to maintain a valid, up-to-date driver’s license
Other Qualifications
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Work hours
- This position is for 40 hours a week
- Hours for this position are 6:00am to 2:45pm
Working Conditions/Environment
- May be required to work outdoors and indoors in various weather conditions.
