Job Description

Title: IT Supervisor


 


Employment Terms: Twelve (12) months


 


Salary Classification: Classified Salary Schedule (Exempt)


 


General Statement of Responsibilities: Responsible for management and operation of district-owned data networks, servers, network applications, and services. Under general supervision, this position reports to the Business Manager.


 


Duties and Responsibilities: 



  1. Oversee daily operations of Wan, LAN, and Telecommunications systems.

  2. Maintain file and data servers.

  3. Initiate necessary upgrades to said file and database servers.

  4. Install and test proposed software programs to be purchased by the District.

  5. Advise as to the compatibility of proposed software programs.

  6. Initiate installation of new network and data processing equipment.

  7. Determine whether a problem needs outside help or can be fixed in-house.

  8. Advise on purchases of new network and workstation equipment and workstation equipment to maintain compatibility with existing infrastructure.

  9. Maintain a supply of computer supplies and repair parts.

  10. Manage E-Mail accounts and telephone Pin’s.

  11. Diagnose problems encountered by computer users throughout the district.

  12. Perform set up, cabling, and hook-up functions as needed for any computer system in the district.

  13. Determine whether a problem needs outside help or can be fixed in-house.

  14. Keep track of the inventory of computer equipment and what is out for repair.

  15. Maintain records of computer service work.

  16. Provide prompt service to teachers or other users for any computer problems they may have.

  17. Manage the department budget and purchases within district policies and procedures.

  18. Performs other related tasks as assigned.


Skills and Knowledge Required: 



  • Ability to follow oral and written directions

  • Ability to maintain records

  • Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others

  • Ability to perform physical labor (for example: lift, bend, twist, lift arms above head, etc.)

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Moderated Risk Occupational Condition: This position works with some hazardous materials, low voltage and occasionally, at heights over 10 feet.


 


Qualifications:



  • Post high school course work or training appropriate to the position

  • One to three years of experience in computer technology


License: Must have a valid driver’s license


 


Responsibility: Responsible for the safekeeping of confidential records, and valuable equipment. Access to confidential records. Must have experience in responsibly managing
