About the Department
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Parks & Recreation Business Development Manager (BDM) and the Marina Manager, the Marina Attendant for the Port of Dubuque Marina will service boats and other marine vehicles with fuel and pump-outs; assist boaters with docking and departing, collect payment for services and supplies; greet and assist convenience store customers; and perform other duties as assigned.?

Position Duties
- Collect dock fees, fares or payment from customers.
- Record sales or transactions data.
- Clean machinery or equipment; both boater shower suites and public restrooms, and facilities or work areas.
- Acquire supplies or equipment.
- Control pumps or pumping equipment.
- Sell products or services.
- Provide transportation information to passengers or customers; customer service.
- Greet and assist customers.
- Operate cash register, point of sale and customer reservation systems; food and concessions equipment; and manual or power tools and equipment.
- Verify ages of customers purchasing alcohol, tobacco products.
- Stock and rotate inventory.
- Assist with start-up and closing procedures; boaters mooring and departing; and manager with maintenance and repair duties.
- Fuel boats.
- Utilize sanitary pump-out system to empty waste tanks.
- Process deposits.
- Water dock planter boxes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services which includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services which includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Customer service or related skills.
- Provide proof of current (free) Iowa Program for Alcohol Compliance Training (IPACT) certification or ability to get IPACT certified prior to first day of work.
- Provide proof of current (free) Iowa I-Pledge certification or ability to get I-Pledge certified prior to the first day of work. The goal of I-PLEDGE is an increase of voluntary compliance with the state's tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor products laws through education and enforcement.
- Ability to obtain an Iowa Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class C Operator certificate (free) in the first week of work. (Will be trained by BDM, an Iowa Class A/B Operator).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Cashier experience.
- Facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Mechanical experience.
